The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team scored three times against Cortland but surrendered a tying goal late in the second half and then gave up the game-winner in overtime Friday afternoon in a 4-3 loss to the Red Dragons in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.

The loss to Cortland was the first regular-season home loss in more than a decade as the Golden Eagles had won each of the last five meetings in Brockport by a combined 12-1 score.

Junior Paul Altobelli (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) gave Brockport 7-2-5 Overall, 2-2-2 SUNYAC) an early lead as he headed in a crossing pass on a direct kick from fellow junior Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) in the 14th minute.

Cortland (11-2-1, 6-0-1) answered with a pair of goals in a span of less than four minutes with goals in the 26th and 29th minute to take a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, DiLorenzo tied the score as he slid behind the Cortland defense and headed in a pass from junior Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) near the end of the 53rd minute.

With less than 15 minutes to play in the second half, Goettel lined up a direct kick from 25 yards out and drilled a hard shot toward the Cortland goal that deflected off a Red Dragon defender and into the goal as Brockport took a 3-2 lead.

In the 85th minute, Cortland knotted the score with a quick shot from inside the 18-yard box after an intercepted pass and the teams headed to overtime with a 3-3 score at the end of regulation.

Just 4:19 into the first overtime period Cortland scored with a shot from the top of the box after the Cortland forward dribbled past a defender into free space. The hard low shot went into the lower corner of the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made three saves for Brockport.
