Box Score

Cayli Carmona (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) scored in the 77th minute for The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team as the Golden Eagles applied pressure down the stretch but fell 2-1 to Oneonta Friday afternoon in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Oneonta.

After a scoreless first half, Oneonta (3-5-2 Overall, 1-1-1 SUNYAC) scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the period to take a 2-0 lead.

The Red Dragons held the lead but Brockport (6-3, 1-2) battled back and controlled the play in the closing minutes of the game. Carmona dribbled to the far side of the field and into the 18-yard box before firing a shot into the back of the goal to trim the Oneonta leads to a single goal.

The Golden Eagles continued to pressure down the stretch with a pair of corner kicks and good scoring chances but Oneonta held on for the 2-1 victory.

"I was proud of the way we never gave up," said Head Coach Joan Schockow. "We had a lapse early in the second half but didn't give up and actually controlled the play for the last several minutes of the game."

For the game, Brockport was outshot 22-4 and the Golden Eagles were limited to the two late corner kicks in the second half and finished in a deficit of 5-3 in corner kicks for the game.

Senior Laura Thompson (Victor, NY/Victor) made nine saves for Brockport.
