Box Score Kaitlyn Niedermeier (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) scored late in the first half and Cayli Carmona (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) scored with less than five minutes to play leading The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team to a 2-2 tie with New Paltz in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday at New Paltz.
New Paltz (6-5-2 Overall, 0-2-2 SUNYAC) opened the scoring in the 24th minute before Niedermeier took a crossing pass from Chelsea Stahl (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and scored to knot the game at 1-1 as the two teams headed to the halftime intermission.
In the second half, New Platz regained the lead with less than 10 minute to play in the period with a breakaway goal.
Carmona scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season five minutes later as she controlled a bouncing ball inside the 18-yard box before turning and firing a shot into the back of the goal.
With the scored tied at 2-2, the team played to a scoreless double overtime as the game ended in a tie.
"I was proud of the heart we showed coming back from a deficit twice to tie the score," said Head Coach Joan Schockow. "The team never gave up and kept battling and it paid off as we tied the score twice including once late in the game. We had some good chances in overtime but just couldn't get the winning goal."
Freshman Catherine Eliasson (Salisbury Mills, NYCornwall) made her first start of the year and stopped eight shots for the Golden Eagles.
