Box Score Freshman Aimee Spilman (Nassau, NY/Columbia) started the rally for The College at Brockport Volleyball team in the fifth set helping to lead the Golden Eagles to a 3-2 road win over RIT. Trailing 8-0 in the deciding set of the match, Brockport used strong serving from Spilman as well as sophomore Kelsey Baker (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) to go on a 15-5 run.
Brockport and RIT were locked in a back and forth match trading each succeeding set. The Golden Eagles won set one, three and five by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 15-13 while losing sets two and four 25-19 and 25-23.
In the fifth set, Spilman started the rally pulling Brockport within two points with a 12-10 RIT advantage. After trading points, Baker served up four straight points to give the Golden Eagles the 15-13 set win and overall match win.
Juniors Kayla Barber (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) and Ashley Capone (Lowville, NY/Lowville) led the team with 11 and nine kills, while freshman Rachel Fiser (Visalia, CA/Golden West) led the team with 18 assists and senior Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) tallied 16 digs.
Baker finished with four service aces while freshman Brianna Richardson (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and senior Jessica Dobson-Tufo (Watertown, NY/Carthage) played key roles in the victory too. Richardson led the Golden Eagles in hitting percentage (0.625) with six kills and Dobson-Tufo chipped in nine assists, three kills and a dig.
