Sophomore Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) scored 26 points leading The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team to a 71-59 victory over Alfred University Saturday afternoon in the season opener and first game of the Brockport Tip-off Tournament  at Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.

Rehbaum scored 17 points in the second half as Brockport (1-0) pulled away from Alfred (0-1) after the Golden Eagles held a slim four-point lead at the break. Brockport never trailed in the second half and built an 11-point lead with a jumper by junior Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) with 11:06 left in the half.

Rehbaum converted a three-point play with a layup and a free throw at the 8:38 mark to give Brockport its first 14-point lead – its largest of the game.

Alfred trimmed the lead to nine points two minutes later but a 6-1 Brockport run capped by another Rehbaum three-point play gave the Golden Eagles a 13-point advantage with 4:27 left and Brockport cruised to the victory.

The first points of the season came off a layup from junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) two minutes into the game as Brockport took the 2-0 lead.  Suhr finished with the game with 15 points including a 7-for-8 day at the free throw line.

Rehbaum led three players into double figures scoring with her 26 points, Pike finished with 19 points off the Brockport bench and Suhr had 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Erin Cunningham (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro) grabbed 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport returns to action Sunday afternoon as they face Nazareth at 2 pm in the final day of the Tip-Off Tournament.  Stay up to date on all of your Golden Eagles action by following Ellsworth on Twitter @EllsworthEagle.
