Sophomore Clifton Lyerly (Inward, NY/Lawrence) scored 17 points – all in the second half – for The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team but the Golden Eagles connected on just 33 percent of their shots from the field in an 83-61 loss to Roanoke College in the consolation game of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament Sunday in Arlington, Virginia.

Lyerly, who was named to the All-Tournament team, was held scoreless for Brockport (0-2) in the first half with limited playing time after picking up a pair of fouls in a span of 30 seconds midway through the half. In the second half Lyerly had the hot hand hitting 7-of-11 shots including a 3-pointer to finish with 17 points.

The game was close until a 9-2 Roanoke (1-1) run midway through the first half gave the Maroons a seven-point lead at 19-12 and a late 3-pointer gave Roanoke it's biggest first half lead at 30-20. The Maroons took a 9-point lead into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, a Lyerly jumper with 17:38 left made it a five-point game but a jumper and a 3-pointer in the next 30 seconds gave Roanoke the double-digit lead once again at 45-35.

A 13-2 run in the middle of the half extended the Roanoke lead to 18 points at 60-42 and the Golden Eagles did not get to within double digits the rest of the way.

Lyerly led all Brockport scorers with his 17 points while fellow sophomore Mitch Cote (Rochester, NY/Penfield) added nine points. Freshman David Clark III (Syracuse, NY/Green Tech.) came off the bench for six points and a team-best six rebounds.
