Box Score Junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) had a strong performance in The College at Brockport Women's Basketball 66-56 loss to Nazareth in the final game of Brockport's Tip-off Weekend Sunday afternoon.
Brockport (1-1) held a 30-26 advantage at halftime but Nazareth (2-0) pushed back to take the lead early in the second half. Brockport fought to retake the lead and held the 45-42 advantage with less than nine minutes in the game, however a three-pointer from a Golden Flyer tied the score and Nazareth took control of the lead on its next possession.
Nazareth took advantage of second chance opportunities, outscoring Brockport 19-9 in second chance points. Suhr helped the Golden Eagles to a 28-22 advantage of points in the paint.
On the game Suhr totaled 17 points, three assists and two blocks while securing nine rebounds in Brockport's first loss of the year. Freshman Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) nailed two three-pointers for Brockport in the first half, and totaled 12 points for the game.
Sophomore Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) led the Golden Eagles in field goal percentage, converting four of her eight shots. She also led Brockport in free throw attempts, getting to the line 10 times while draining eight of the shots. She scored 17 total points.
Sophomore Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) had nine boards while leading Brockport with five assists.
Suhr was named to the All-Tournament Team, for her dominating effort in the two games at Brockport. Over the weekend she scored 32 points and added 22 rebounds.
Brockport travels for its first road game of the year Wednesday Nov. 19 for a 6 pm game against Hamilton.
