Box Score

Junior Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made seven saves including two in overtime for #3 seeded The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team Wednesday morning as #2 seed Cortland advanced with a 1-0 overtime win in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament in Cortland.

Cortland (14-3-1) scored with 1:25 left in the first 10-minute overtime period to break the scoreless tie and advanced to the SUNYAC Tournament Championship game against the winner of Geneseo/Oneonta.

Cortland outshot the Golden Eagles 23-13 but Brockport (10-3-6) had several good scoring chances in the second half and in overtime.

Early in the second half, junior Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) fired a hard shot from the top of the box and Cortland goalie Tim Beauvais made a diving save. Fifteen minutes later junior Patrick Sprague (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) had a shot from the top of the box off a corner kick that was just wide of the top corner of the goal.

With less than 10 minutes left in the second half, Goettel lined up a direct kick from the side of the 18-yard box and sent a ball over the heads of the players in front of the goal off the goal post.

Junior Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) had the best scoring chance of the game with five minutes to play in regulation when Sprague deflected a clearing attempt and DiLorenzo was in alone on the goalie and sent a shot off the cross bar.

Early in the overtime, DiLorenzo headed a ball off a cross form Sprague that was punched over the cross bar by Beauvais.

Sullivan made a diving save on a hard low shot with two minutes left in the first overtime but on the ensuing corner kick, no one could manage to control the ball in front of the goal and Cortland's Sean Streb kicked the ball out of Sullivan's hands and was awarded the goal.
