Senior Kaitlin Hammersley (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds, but The College at Brockport women's basketball team lost to Geneseo 59-43 on the road in a State Univeristy of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup on Tuesday evening.

Geneseo (14-6, 8-5 SUNYAC) got out to a quick 5 point lead in the first minute of play. The Knights continued to push their lead, going up by eight points midway through the first half.

At 9:07, Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) drained a three pointer to end a four minute shooting drought for Brockport (8-12, 4-9 SUNYAC). Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) followed Rehbaum's three with a steal and an assist on a fast break from Alexandra Marshall (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor), cutting the Knights lead to only three with 8:43 remaining in the half.

Geneseo put together another small run, putting the Knights up by eight once again with 5:27 left to play.

In the final minutes of the first half, the Golden Eagles could not get closer than four points to the Knights. Shots from Welch and Meg Stucko (Elba, NY/Elba) pulled Brockport to within four points, but Geneseo managed to answer back each time and push their lead back to six. A layup from the knights in the last seconds of the half put Geneseo up 32-26 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Geneseo opened up with a 9-0 run to give them a 13 point lead and control of the game at 18:14.

The Golden Eagles never managed to get into a scoring groove in the second half. Rehbaum was the first to score for Brockport in the second half, hitting a jumper at the 15 minute mark.

The closest the Golden Eagles would get was eight points off of a Hammersley three pointer at 2:56.

Geneseo closed out the game on a 8-0 run to win by 16.

Brockport finished the game shooting 29.8% (17-57) from the floor, 26.3% (5-19) from long range and 80% (4-5) from the free throw line.

Hammersley led scoring for Brockport with 11 points. Rehbaum added 10 points and Welch chipped in seven. Hannalee Fordyce pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday night for a SUNYAC matchup at Buffalo State at 6 pm.
