Freshman Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) scored 13 points, leading The College at Brockport women's basketball team in scoring as the Golden Eagles fell 78-47 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup at Buffalo State on Friday night.

Alexandra Marshall (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) opened up scoring in the game with a quick layup off the jump ball.

Buffalo State (18-4, 13-2 SUNYAC) answered back with a 9-0 run to take a seven point lead with 16:30 left in the half.

Brockport (8-12, 4-9 SUNYAC) fought back with a run of their own to bring the Bengals lead to just one at the 14 minute mark. Marshall started things the 6-0 with a three pointer, Bree Fortney (Lorain, OH/Lorain) followed up with a fast break layup and a free throw from Rehbaum.

The Bengals took back control as the half came to a close. Buffalo State managed to push their lead back out to seven points at 5:43 and continued to add to it. One minute before halftime, the Bengals hit a layup to go up by their largest lead, 15.

In the final two minutes of the half, Brockport was unsuccessful in putting points on the board, heading into halftime down 36-21.

The Golden Eagles managed to chip away at the Buffalo State lead in the early minutes of the first half. A three pointer from Codi Battaglia (Webster, NY/Aquinas Institute) and a layup from Kaitlin Hammersley (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) brought Brockport to within 10 points with 14:27. Unfortunately, 10 points was the closest the Golden Eagles would get to the Bengals for the remainder of the game.

Buffalo State closed out the final 10 minutes of the game with a 26-10 scoring advantage to earn the 78-47 win.

Rehbaum finished the game with 13 points, two steals and five rebounds. Marshall tallied eight points, while Hannalee Fordyce (Amityville, NY/Copiague) and Hammersley each added six points. Hammersley also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

As a team, Brockport finished the game shooting 34% (18-53) from the floor and 69.2% (9-13) from the free throw line. The Golden Eagles struggled from long range, only shooting 15.4% (2-13).

Brockport returns to action on Saturday afternoon for a 2 pm SUNYAC matchup on the road at Fredonia.
