John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) was honored Monday with the announcement of his selection as not only a First-Team All East Region award but also being voted the region's Player of the year according to D3Hoops.com as the premiere NCAA Division III Basketball website released its All-Region selections. The standout senior was also chosen as the ECAC Division III Upstate Men's Basketball All-Star First Team selection.
Ivy led Brockport with 21.3 points per game before being injured with three games left in the regular season and missing the final six games of the year.
The senior broke the school record for career points and finished his career with 1,683 total points. He became just the fifth player in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) to eclipse the 1,000 career point milestone in SUNYAC games only.
Ivy finished with 511 points on the season and had double-digit points totals in each game this season. His career-high 40 points against Plattsburgh came one game prior to him breaking the all-time scoring record at Brockport.
In 14 games this season, Ivy tallied at least 20 points. He led the Golden Eagles to a school-record tying 15-game regular-season win streak for a single season and helped the team to the SUNYAC regular-season title. Brockport also won the Wendy's College Classic Tournament for the first time in 14 seasons and took home the tournament title at the Medaille College Holiday Classic.
