Box Score Senior Paul Altobelli (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) led The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team to a 3-0 win in their first SUNYAC game of the year. The Golden Eagles remain unbeaten and improve to 5-0-3 on the season following the victory over Buffalo State.
During the 22nd minute of the contest, Altobelli got the scoring underway. He redirected a crossing pass from junior Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) past the goalie, on a free kick from about 15-yards out. The Bengals tried to answer back moments later but junior goalkeeper Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made a couple big saves.
After Brockport's goal, the Bengals came the closest to tying the game after a denied shot by Sullivan was kicked off the post and then kicked over the net. Sullivan now has five shutouts on the season after his four save performance against Buffalo.
In the final eight minutes of the game Brockport pulled away with a goal by junior Brandon Bianchi (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and another goal by Altobelli. Bianchi scored in the 82nd minute, and his goal was also assisted by Goettel. With less than five minutes remaining, Brockport was awarded a penalty kick which Altobelli converted into the final score of the game.
Brockport improved their unbeaten regular season streak to 12 games and the Golden Eagles will face Fredonia tomorrow at 1 pm in another SUNYAC contest on the road. Remember to stay up to date on all your Golden Eagle scores and news by following Ellsworth on twitter @ellswortheagle.
