Box Score Sophomore Chelsea Stahl (Brockport, NY/Brockport) took a pass from the head of junior Courtney Szczesniak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and sent a low shot past the Fredonia goalkeeper for the game-winner as The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team scored a 2-1 victory over the Blue Devils in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field in Brockport Saturday afternoon.
Brockport 6-2 Overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) took a lead in the 11th minute as senior Cayli Carmona (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) dribbled into the box and split the defenders before sending a low shot to the short side of the goal for a 1-0 Brockport lead.
In the 28th minute, Fredonia (3-5, 1-1) tied the game after a collision in the box between a Fredonia player and a Brockport defender ended up with the defender on the ground before a low shot scored past Brockport goalkeeper Laura Thompson (Victor, NY/Victor).
Less than a minute later, Brockport moved up the field to the right side of the box before a looping deflected pass was headed out of the air and into the box by Szczesniak right to the foot of Stahl who touched the ball to the right and nailed a low shot into the corner of the goal for the 2-1 lead and the eventual game-winning goal.
The game was fairly even statistically with Fredonia holding a slim 16-14 advantage in shots.
Thompson finished with five saves for her sixth win of the season.
