Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) posted her fourth consecutive double-double.
The Golden Eagles held Buffalo State to 31% shooting from the field but were outrebounded 50-38. Brockport used a strong second half to close the gap from Buffalo's halftime lead.
Brockport utilized a 15-3 run late in the second half to gain the lead for the first time in the game, overcoming Buffalo State's largest lead of the game after a three point play from Suhr. Freshman
Alyssa Rusinko (Fairport, NY/Fairport) got the ball to Suhr as she was cutting to the basket. Suhr made a layup while being fouled, and converted her shot from the line giving Brockport the 42-40 lead with eight minutes to go in the second half.
During the run Suhr recorded a shot from behind the arc, three layups and a free throw while sophomore
Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) added a layup and freshman
Katlynn Greffrath (Liberty, NY/Tri-Valley) contributed a layup and a free throw.
Four minutes after Brockport took the lead, Buffalo regained it. Brockport had multiple chances to tie the game and force overtime but missed two shots in the final minute of play.
Suhr finished the game with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore
Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) had six assists, tying her season-high. Greffrath set a season-high with 10 points, while Rehbaum added 10 points as well.
The Golden Eagles face Fredonia Saturday at 4 pm in another SUNYAC game at the Jim and John Vlogianitis on the campus of The College at Brockport.
