Box Score

Sophomore Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) earned her second consecutive double-double as The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team beat Fredonia 74-61 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday afternoon at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium at The College at Brockport.

Brockport (3-10, 1-5 SUNYAC) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with layups from Rehbaum and junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) less than two minutes into the game.  Brockport maintained a lead until the 13:43 mark.  From there, Fredonia led the remainder of the half and took a 35-32 lead to halftime.

The lead changed four times in the first three minutes of the second half.  Sophomore Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) tied the game 30 seconds in with a shot from behind the arc and gave Brockport a two point lead with a layup.  A free throw and a jumper gave Fredonia the lead moments later but junior Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) took it back with a three pointer.

The Golden Eagles went on a 12-4 run in the second half to take a 52-42 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game.  During that run four different players scored for the Green and Gold.  Brockport's largest lead of the game came with 5:42 remaining as Rehbaum scored on a fast break to extend the lead to 15.  Fredonia cut the deficit to nine with 4:34 remaining but was unable to complete the comeback as Brockport's offense ignited to take a double digit lead for the remainder of the game and hold on for the 74-61 win.

Strong defense from the Golden Eagles held Fredonia to a 33.3% field goal percentage in the second half while Brockport shot 58.6%.  The Blue Devils outrebounded Brockport 34-33.

Rehbaum finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Suhr posted 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Pike finished with 12 points including two made shots from behind the arc.  Welch tied her career-high of eight assists while also contributing 10 points.  Junior Erin Cunningham (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro) was dominant in the paint securing seven rebounds while also adding three steals.

Brockport has three conference games next week as they travel to Oswego Tuesday night and are back home Friday and Saturday to face Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
