Box Score Sophomore Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) proved extremely clutch in The College at Brockport Women's Basketball State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) road victory over Oswego, making four free throws in the final minute of the Golden Eagle's 73-65 win.
Brockport (4-10, 2-5 SUNYAC) used a 13-0 run to overcome a five point deficit at the four minute mark in the second half to take control. Five different Golden Eagles contributed points in Brockport's run to the victory. Olivia Suhr's (Rochester, NY/Marion) free throw with just under three minutes remaining gave Brockport its first lead in which it built upon over the remainder of the game.
The Lakers jumped out to an early lead going on a 10-2 run to start the game before Tanisha Barr (Rochester, NY/Edison) made one of two free throws and set up Hannah Rehbaum (Cheektowaga, NY/Sacred Heart) leading to a layup. Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) and Rehbaum scored seven consecutive points for the Golden Eagles cutting the Lakers lead to a single point.
The Golden Eagles were tough down low outrebounding Oswego 43-31, including 15 offensive boards that Brockport converted into 15 second chance points. Brockport also scored 30 of its points within the paint.
Barr led the Green and Gold with 15 rebounds, while Welch was the top scorer for Brockport. Welch tied a career high finishing the game with 21 points, including 4-of-7 three pointers. Rehbaum scored 15 and Pike chipped in 10 for the Golden Eagles.
The Green and Gold continue SUNYAC play this weekend, returning home to face Potsdam Friday and Plattsburgh Saturday.
