Box Score Junior Olivia Suhr (Rochester, NY/Marion) keyed an offensive explosion in the second half for The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team leading to a 71-48 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win over Potsdam Friday evening in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium on the campus of Brockport.
Brockport (5-10, 3-5 SUNYAC) shot an incredible 18-of-29 from the field in the second half, pushing aside its cold shooting first half. The Golden Eagles held a one point advantage at the break before pushing the tempo in the second half. Brockport used a 16-2 run to start the second half, taking a 40-25 lead.
The Brockport bench outscored the Bears 40-5, as both Suhr and Katlynn Greffrath (Liberty, NY/Tri-Valley) reached points in the double digits coming off the bench.
Suhr scored 12 points in the second half, while sophomore Faith Welch (Albany, NY/Catholic Central) pushed the offense adding four assists. Greffrath was aggressive offensively and defensively in the second half, pulling down multiple rebounds and finishing with a couple of assists that led to several fast break layups for the freshman guard.
Suhr led the Golden Eagles with 19 points while Welch added 15 points and seven assists in the game. Greffrath scored a season and career high 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Erin Cunningham (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro) and Marissa Pike (Burdett, NY/Watkins Glen) led Brockport with eight rebounds apiece, as the Golden Eagles outrebounded Potsdam 45-36 in the game.
Brockport continues its SUNYAC play at home tomorrow against Plattsburgh at 4 pm in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
