Box Score

Sophomore Levi Pace (Medina, NY/Medina) had a dominant second half leading The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Buffalo State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest.

The Golden Eagles held the Bengals to 33% shooting from the field, including three-for-15 from three-point range. Brockport shot an incredible 26-of-52 from the floor.

Sophomore Clifton Lyerly (Inwood, NY/Lawrence) got the Golden Eagles scoring started when he stepped back and set his feet beyond the arc to nail a three pointer from the left corner to tie the game up. He scored 11 points early in the first half helping Brockport to a 36-31 lead. Brockport defense led to 11-of-35 shooting from the field including one-for-eight from three-point range.

Buffalo held a 25-20 lead with eight minutes left in the second half. A dunk from Pace gave energy to the Golden Eagles. A quick Bengals jumper stretched the lead back to a five point deficit, but Brockport went on a 12 point run to take the lead permanently.

Pace scored nine of his points in the first six minutes of the second half to extend the Green and Gold lead to a 10 point lead. Brockport extended its lead to a 17 point lead when Hamed Shamseldin (Lawrence, NY/Lawrence) hit a jumper.

Buffalo cut the lead to four points with less than a minute left. Patrick Modzelewski (Brooklyn, NY/Msgr. McClancy) hit four clutch free throws at the end of the game and Matthew Smith (East Northport, NY/Northport) made the final shot from the line for Brockport.

Pace led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lyerly and Aaron White (North Tonawanda, NY/Canisius) added in 13 points apiece, while Hamsheldin and Modzelewski each broke the double digit point marker.

Brockport travels to New Paltz on Friday for another SUNYAC game at 5:30 pm and against Oneonta on Saturday at 2 pm.
