Geneseo, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team played one of its best games of the season in a crucial road State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) 1-0 win over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday under the lights.

Brockport (8-2-2 Overall, 2-1-2 SUNYAC) has now won three games in a row, including two SUNYAC matches that have helped push the Golden Eagles into playoff contention. The Saturday win earned Brockport three more conference points as the team now has eight and currently ranks as the sixth seed.

Peter DiLorenzo has made quite a Golden Eagle career and Saturday earned a spot amongst Golden Eagle greats with his 36th career goal, which ties him for second most in school history.

In the 31st minute of play, David Rougeux crossed a pass towards the Golden Eagle sniper. DiLorenzo met the ball with a header, sending it past the Knights goalkeeper and into the upper half of the net. Brockport would need no further goals as its defense and net minder of its own thwarted all Geneseo opportunities.

Casey Sullivan posted his eighth clean sheet of the 2015 fall season as he saved eight Geneseo shots from finding the back of the net.

Head coach Gary LaPietra was enthusiastic in his statement saying, "Big conference win tonight. Our defense was outstanding and Casey had a great night too. Geneseo played with a lot of energy and created some good scoring chances but our defense won every battle."

Patrick Sprague also had a good night. He was able to test the Geneseo keeper twice with his two shots of the night going on target.

Brockport heads to Cortland on Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. for another SUNYAC game. The Red Dragons are currently seeded in the fourth spot with 10 conference points.
