Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team battled through a cold and windy State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday afternoon during the school's homecoming weekend tying New Paltz 0-0 on Bob Boozer Field.
Brockport (5-3-3 Overall, 1-1-2 SUNYAC) and New Paltz were nearly identical in shots during the game as the Golden Eagles held the slight 19-18 advantage in the double overtime contest.
Catherine Eliasson had several outstanding plays that led to her third straight and fourth overall shutout of the season. Late in the second half, with about 16 minutes remaining Eliasson made the Golden Eagles save of the game.
New Paltz was awarded a free kick from about thirty yards out with the wind at the Hawks back. The New Paltz attacker struck the ball hard with her left foot deep into the box as Eliasson sprang into action fighting through a cluster of Hawks to punch the ball safely away from the net. She collided with a Hawks player but held strong through the remaining minutes of the game.
The Golden Eagle attack put lots of pressure on the Hawks in the first overtime session with an abundance of energy. On one particular play, Stefanie Drago took the ball deep into New Paltz territory before sending a pass to the center of the keeper's box. The ball trickled around until, Ashley Makowski drilled a close range shot on the New Paltz goalie. The Hawk keeper made a tremendous save, sending the ball wide of the net to preserve the tie.
Eliasson finished the game with nine saves while her Golden Eagle defenders supported her throughout the third consecutive shutout against a conference foe.
