OSWEGO, N.Y. - The College at Brockport men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Oswego State on Saturday.
The women narrowly missed, falling 147-130, while the men fell by a count of 174-105.
On the men's side there were some highlights, including a one-two finish in the 100 IM.
Chase Carson touched in a time of 1:01.14 for first, with Matthew Futia right behind him at 1:04.64 to take second. The men's 200 freestyle relay team, comprised of
Adam Baumann,
Brian Cotroneo,
Jacob Weiand and
Matthew Merchant, also took first, in a time of 1:44.35.
On the boards,
Gabriel Arias continued his dominance, placing first in both the one and three meter dives. In the three-meter event, he scored a 254.30 and a 288.15 in the one-meter event.
For the women, the Golden Eagles had several bright performances.
Mary Jane Leja picked up a pair of first place finishes in the 200 freestyle, swimming a time of 2:05.63, and in the 50 freestyle, with a 25.24 swim.
Jenna Gleason swam for a pair of firsts as well, with a 1:06.11 in the 100 backstroke and a 2:25.44 in the 200 backstroke.
Ameera Bhanji took the 100 IM with a time of 1:10.55, while the Brockport 200 freestyle relay team also captured first. The team, made up of Gleason,
Paige Kolar,
Erin Conley and Leja swam a combined 1:49.19 to win the event.
The boards were another strong suit for the women, who swept the top three spots in each event.
Meghann Kilgallon continued to lead the way, placing first in both the one-meter (281.15) and the three-meter (238.8). Kathryn Nau and
Brooke Leddon each place second and third respectively in both events.
