Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Volleyball team continued its excellent start to the 2015 season extending its winning streak to eight straight matches as it defeated Hartwick and Vassar Friday evening at the Nazareth Golden Flyer Invitational.
Brockport (8-0) won in six straight sets defeating Hartwick 25-20, 25-15 and 25-11 before beating Vassar 25-21, 25-11 and 25-5. The Golden Eagles were nearly perfect in the final set of the night succeeding on 13 of 20 attacks with zero errors.
Sam Holdredge led the Golden Eagles in its attacks Friday with 25 kills combined. She tallied 12 kills against Hartwick and 13 versus Vassar while Kayla Barber totaled 17 kills.
The Green and Gold excelled from the service line during both contests especially against Vassar. Brockport combined to score 25 points from service aces, including 15 against the Brewers.
Kathleen Irwin led the way for Brockport in the first match. She concluded the match with one of her four aces in the third set against the Hawks. Aimee Spilman finished with five aces against Vassar with Maddy Taylor tallying four and Irwin three aces apiece.
Sophomore Noelle Poloncarz facilitated the Brockport offense with 72 assists on the night. Fellow sophomore Brianna Richardson led the Golden Eagle defense with four blocks while Taylor combined for 21 digs.
Brockport continues action tomorrow in the Golden Flyer Invitational at 1 p.m. versus Medaille and concludes at 3 p.m. against Hilbert.
