Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team fell in its second game during the Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure weekend series, losing to host Nazareth College 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
Brockport (2-2-1) played to a stalemate in the first half as both teams had minimal scoring opportunities. Both the Golden Eagles and Golden Flyers defense was in hot pursuit of any ball to cross midfield, but Nazareth was able to strike in the 67th minute for the only score of the game.
The best Golden Eagles opportunity came halfway through the first half as a ball trickled through the last row of Nazareth defenders and Chelsea Stahl beat all opposition to the ball. With no defenders between her and the Nazareth goalkeeper, Stahl struck the ball low and hard but the goalie made a nice diving save to preserve the 0-0 first half tie.
Lauren Moore took a shot from outside the box on a loose ball with minutes remaining in the first half that narrowly snuck under the crossbar. However the ball sailed just a little long to the pleasure of the home Nazareth crowd.
Goalkeeper Catherine Eliasson made several crucial saves throughout the game to give Brockport an opportunity for the win. The sophomore goalkeeper finished the game with 11 saves.
Kaitlyn Niedermeier, Elizabeth Wilson and Carly Bulich played exceptional defense for Brockport as they outhustled Golden Flyers regularly to the ball.
Brockport returns home to face Medaille in a nonconference game on Friday at 4 p.m. Be sure to stay up to date on all your Golden Eagle news by following @BportAthletics on Twitter and by liking the "Brockport Golden Eagles" Facebook page.
