Box Score ADA, OH – Casey Sullivan is in sole possession for The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team shutout record, as he surpassed Rhett King who set the record in 1976. Sullivan's new mark stands at 21 career shutouts as the Golden Eagles won the Ohio Northern tournament Sunday with a 3-0 win over Defiance.
Brockport (4-1) shutout consecutive opponents to waste no time in assisting Sullivan to the new record. After facing several difficult shots yesterday, the Golden Eagles rallied around Sullivan today allowing only a single shot all game which Sullivan saved.
Defender Mark Sylvia broke the 0-0 tie with only minutes to spare in the first half. Connor Melanophy assisted on yesterday's game winner over Ohio Northern and yet again was the one to send a pass for the game-winning score.
With less than ten minutes remaining in the game, Brockport's relentless attack tacked on two additional goals. The Golden Eagles tallied an unbelievable 35 shots, including 15 on net.
Peter DiLorenzo has scored in every Brockport win on the season and he netted another ball in the 82nd minute. He headed in the ball on a free kick from David LaPietra.
LaPietra assisted on the final score of the game less than four minutes later when he crossed a pass to Chris Aherne, who beat the Yellow Jackets goalie and the 3-0 win. Head coach Gary LaPietra was pleased with the Golden Eagles effort on the weekend.
