Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – In the wake of the Head Coach Joan Schockow's plan to announce her coaching retirement at the end of the 2015 season, The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team responded with a strong non-conference win against D'Youville, downing the Spartans 3-1 improving its home record to 3-0 on the season.
Brockport (4-2-1) were in a back and forth battle in the first half as both teams entered the half knotted up in a 1-1 tie. D'Youville held the slight advantage in shots after the first break with nine shots compared to Brockport's six.
Junior forward Chelsea Stahl netted the game-winner in the 56th minute of play. Olivia Kuter sent a shot towards the net before deflections from Courtney Szczesniak and Kaitlyn Niedermeier led to a header from Stahl as she sent the ball into the back of the net for the Golden Eagle 2-1 lead in what proved to be the game-winner.
Elizabeth Wilson got the scoring underway in the first half of play on a penalty kick. In the first goal of her Golden Eagle career, Wilson ripped a shot that was too strong for the goalkeeper to handle as it trickled off the Spartan goalie's fingertips. D'Youville answered back quickly in less than ten minutes to even the game going into halftime.
Wilson wasn't done making an impression on the game or her career statistics. She scored the third goal of the game for the Golden Eagles and second of her career in the 76th minute. She sent a shot towards the Spartans net which was headed into the goal by a D'Youville player accidently to give Brockport the 3-1 lead.
Golden Eagle Catherine Eliasson made six saves for her fourth win on the year.
