BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Volleyball team continued its excellent start to the season as it won in convincing 3-0 fashion against Oneonta in the Golden Eagles first match of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play Friday evening.

Brockport (14-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) beat the Red Dragons in the first match of SUNYAC pool play hosted by Oneonta in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-22.

The Golden Eagles were led by Noelle Poloncarz who finished the match leading the attack with 31 assists and chipping in 16 digs on the defensive side.

The Green and Gold rallied in the first set after Oneonta came from behind to take a 20-19 advantage. After a Golden Eagle timeout, Brockport strung together several points and won the set 25-22.

In the second set, the Golden Eagles took control from the start and responded every time Oneonta put together a string of points. With the third set, both teams were neck and neck for much of the match. Brockport and Oneonta were locked in a 22-22 tie. The Golden Eagles took the lead scoring the next three points straight.

Leading the Golden Eagle attackers was Kayla Barber with 11 kills followed by Emily Flohr with eight and middle blockers Ashley Capone and Brianna Richardson with six apiece. Richardson led the Golden Eagle hitters with attacking efficiency, posting a .333 hitting percentage. Kathleen Irwin led the defensive effort with 20 digs while Richardson led the team with four blocks.
