Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team began Saturday afternoon's game at a ferocious pace scoring two goals within the first 15 minutes of action before settling for a 2-2 tie against Eastern at Haverford College.
Brockport (1-0-1) outshot Eastern 23-15 as it tallied 14 shots within the first half of the game. Chelsea Stahl accounted for 11 of Brockport's shots including five on net.
Ashley Makowski got the scoring underway for the Green and Gold. Makowski challenged for a ball and won it on a tackle and caught the goalie out of position as she shot the ball into the back of the net in the 10th minute of the game.
Less than four minutes later Christina Leonardo gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead when she collected the rebound on a shot from Stahl. Leonardo assisted on a Brockport goal in its first game of the year and currently has three points on the season after missing all of last season.
Catherine Eliasson started in net for Brockport and finished the game with six saves. Eastern pulled its goalkeeper at the end of the first half, trailing 2-0.
During the 47th minute of play Eastern scored its first goal of the game and knotted it up 28 minutes later. Eliasson kept Eastern from taking home the win with a save in the 87th minute. She also made another save in the second overtime period.
Brockport will play tomorrow in the consolation game of the tournament after falling in penalty kicks 4-2, as the shootout was only done to determine the tournament championship game and will not reflect on the Golden Eagles season as a loss. The game is set for 1 pm at Haverford College.
