CANEADEA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's soccer team fell in a tough non-conference contest to Houghton College on Tuesday, 3-0.
The Golden Eagles move to 2-6-2 on the year, while the Highlanders improve to 8-2-2 in 2016.
The Green and Gold found themselves in a hole early when Houghton scored a pair of goals in the opening nine minutes of play. Brockport saw the Highlanders score a third goal in the first half, to fall behind 3-0 in the 27th minute, a score that would stand through the half.
In the second period, the Golden Eagle defense stepped up to hold Houghton scoreless. The Green and Gold offense struggle to find the back of the net, as Brockport fell 3-0.
The Golden Eagles worked for six shots in the outing, with three shots on target, coming from
Quintin Volpe,
Nikolas Sgaraglio and
Jake Etoll.
Joseph Romano got the start, and saw over 75 minutes of action, picking up three saves, while
Ryan Cassidy came in to close out the contest, picking up 14:23 of play.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 8 when they host State University of New York Athletic Association (SUNYAC) rivals SUNY Geneseo.
