Game Recap: Softball |

Harris Homers; Softball Drops Two at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport softball team fell to Nazareth College in both games of the doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.  The Golden Eagles fall to 10-4 on the season after dropping game one 10-2 (5 innings) and game two 4-3.

Game One: Brockport 2 – Nazareth 10

Nazareth scored five runs in the first inning and it proved too much for the Golden Eagles who were unable to get the bats going.

Down 5-0 in the top of the third, Brianna Harris drew a walk.  Delaney Buckley ripped a triple down the right field line to score Harris for Brockport's first run of the game.  Buckley would then score on a single to right field from Lindsay Wachna.

The Golden Flyers would tab one run in the bottom of the frame then four in the final two innings of play to take game one.

Taylor Parlet, Shelby Perry, Buckley and Wachna each notched one hit with Buckley and Wachna tabbing one run batted in each.

Jaime Berger earned the start on the mound and pitched four innings, striking out four along the way.  Berger suffered her first loss of the season after allowing eight hits and eight runs.  Kelsi Nau pitched the final inning, allowed two runs to score off of two hits and two walks.

Game Two: Brockport 3 – Nazareth 4

The Golden Eagles were trailing 4-0 entering the final inning of play and scored three runs but the comeback fell short in the nightcap.

Brockport's offense improved in game two, tabbing six hits and having at least one base runner in the first three innings.

With one out and a four run deficit in the top of the seventh, Tabitha McBride drew a walk and advanced to second on a single to right field from Kathleen Laskey.  With two ducks in the pond, Brianna Harris blasted a home run to left center to put Brockport on board.

Harris finished two-for-four with one run scored and three runs batted in.  Buckley, Wachna, Perry and Laskey each finished with one hit.

Korey Kibing went the distance but suffered her second loss of the season.  Kibling struck out five while allowing six hits and four runs.

The Golden Eagles open conference play this weekend on the road against Oswego State and SUNY Cortland.  Brockport will face Oswego Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. then head to Cortland Saturday with a noon start time.
