Late Comeback Falls Short; Softball Swept at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The College at Brockport softball team dropped its first State University of New York Athletic Conference series of the season against Oswego State.  The Golden Eagles fall to 10-6 on the season after dropping game one 8-0 (5 innings) and  falling short with a four run, two out, sixth inning rally in game two.

Game One – Brockport 8, Oswego 0 (five innings)

Game Two – Brockport 6, Oswego 9

Lindsay Wachna led out the inning with a single up the middle.  Pinch runner Paige Monachino advanced to second on a groundout and would score on a single from Shannon AllenMorgan Flamholtz dug in and ripped a double to left center to bring home Allen.

With one runner on base and two outs, Tabitha McBride hit two-run blast over the left field fence to cut Brockport's deficit to two.

The Lakers would respond with two runs in the bottom of the inning to regain a 9-5 lead.

Korey Kibling proved pitchers can hit too, and doubled on a fly ball to left center field.  Kibling would eventually score on a single to right center from Buckley for Brockport's final run of the game.

Kibling went the distance in her third loss of the season.  The senior struck out two while allowing 12 hits and six walks.  Kibling, Wachna, Flamholtz and Buckley each finished with two hits in game two.  Flamholtz and McBride led the team with two runs batted in each.
