CORTLAND, N.Y. – The College at Brockport softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to SUNY Cortland in Cortland on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fell 5-1 in game on then 3-0 in the second. Brockport drops to 10-8 overall and 0-4 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference while Cortland improves to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC.
Game One – Brockport 1, Cortland 5 The Golden Eagles bats were quiet in game one, only tabbing four hits. The Red Dragons scored one run in the bottom of the first to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.
Brockport responded with a run of its own in the top of the second. With one out and a full count,
Shelby Perry singled to left field for the Golden Eagles' first base runner of the day.

Cortland threatened with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom half of the frame. A bloop single to second base loaded the bases but pitcher
Korey Kibling made a strong defensive play, picking up the ball and throwing the lead runner out at home, to end the inning.
Two singles, a triple and a home run would score four runs for Cortland, two each in the third and fourth. Brockport was unable to get things going on offense to suffer the 5-1 loss.
Shelby Perry went two-for-three at the plate in game one. Kibling and Eaton each tabbed one hit. Kibling went the distance in her fourth loss of the season after allowing 10 hits while striking out one.
Game Two – Brockport 0, Cortland 3 Brockport and Cortland were in a battle to start the second game. Both teams had base runners in the first two innings but tough defense wouldn't allow either team to score. The Red Dragons broke away with two runs in the bottom of the third and one in the fifth to take game two.
The Golden Eagles had a strong scoring opportunity in the third with two runners in scoring position and one out.
Brianna Harris singled to left center then advanced to third on a double down the right field line from
Morgan Flamholtz but a groundout and fly out would end the inning.
Eaton finished game two two-for-three at the plate while Harris, Flamholtz and
Delaney Buckley each tabbed one hit.
Jaime Berger went the distance in her third loss of the season. The senior struck out four while allowing three hits and three walks.
The Golden Eagles head to Rochester Institute of Technology on April 6 for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. then return home to host Geneseo in a SUNYAC doubleheader on April 9 at noon.
