CAMDEN, N.J. – The College at Brockport men's soccer team fell in a tough match against Kean University on Saturday, 3-1.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Cougars move to 4-1 on the year.
In the opening half of action, Kean broke the scoring silence in the 21st minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Brockport had the answer, when
Jake Fusilli got ahold of the loose ball, and put it away in the lower left corner to knot the contest at 1-1.
Less than two minutes later however, the Golden Eagles saw the tie disappear as Kean netted a goal to take a 2-1 edge into the halftime break.
Brockport saw the Cougars tack on a quick goal to start the second half to make the count 3-1, but the Green and Gold defense picked up play and held Kean scoreless through the remainder of the period.
"It was a very difficult and disappointing loss under extreme, hot weather conditions," commented head coach
Gary LaPietra. "A couple of poor decisions and mistakes in the final third cost us two goals, but we were happy to see
Jake Fusilli score his first collegiate goal."
The Golden Eagles worked for 11 shots, with seven shots on goal and were awarded five corner kicks in the contest.
Joseph Romano got the start, and in all 90-minutes of play picked up seven saves.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow, Sept 11 at 4:30 against Rutgers-Camden in Camden, N.J.
