FREDONIA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's soccer team opened their 2016 conference schedule on the road, as they faced off against Fredonia in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, falling in a close match, 3-2.

The Golden Eagles move to 1-4-1 on the season with a 0-1 mark in SUNYAC play, while the Blue Devils have a 6-1-1 mark, and are 1-0 within the league.

The Green and Gold got off to a hot start, when in the opening seven minutes of play Quintin Volpe netted a Golden Eagle goal, to post an early 1-0 lead.

The contest proved to be tightly contested, as Brockport held off their opponents for the majority of the half. In the final five minutes of the period the Blue Devils scored the equalizer, as the teams would go into the half tied 1-1.

In the second half, the Blue Devils came out to post two straight goals, setting Brockport back 3-1. The Golden Eagles worked to rally, and found the back of the net in the 85th minute when Chris Aherne buried a goal. The Green and Gold comeback came too late however, as Brockport would fall, 3-2.

As a team, Brockport outshot their counterparts by a tally of 13-10, with five shots on goal. David LaPietra led the way with four shots, while Aherne and Jake Fusilli both worked for two opportunities.
