AURORA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team cruised past Wells College winning by a final score of 4-2 Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles move to 4-13 in 2017, where the Express fall to 2-13.
Brockport came out stumbling as they fell behind 1-0 after a Wells goal in the 10th minute. The Green and Gold battled back to eventually tie the game 1-1 off a
Margo Tremaine goal. Tremaine was not done yet, as four minutes later she notched her second goal of the day off a pass from
Emily Hall to take a 2-1 advantage heading into the halftime break.
Brockport kept rolling in the second half as they extended their lead in the 46th minute to 3-1 off a goal from
Meaghan Lurz. The Golden Eagles defense was tested midway through the second half as the Wells offense poured on multiple shot, but goalie
Sarah Beam stood strong in the net stopping any scoring opportunity. The Green and Gold added another goal in the 56th minute as
Christina Conkling collected a rebound and put it past the keeper to increase their lead to 4-1. Wells connected on a goal in last minute of play, but it was not enough as Brockport came out victorious 4-2.
Beam saw 62 minutes of action in net and finished the game with six saves, where
Adriana DeDie played nearly eight minutes and totaled one save.
The Brockport field hockey team take a week off and then travel to Ithaca College for their last game of the 2017 season, with the game set to start at 1 p.m.
