BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's basketball team looks to bounce back from a disappointing end to last season. The Golden Eagles finished the 2016-2017 campaign with a record of 19-7 and 14-4 in conference play but it came to a sour conclusion after a loss in the semifinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs.
The Green and Gold lost six key seniors and will lean on some returning pieces to lead the way. Seniors
Abdoulaye Sow and
David Clark aim to make an impact on the floor as their minutes will increase significantly.
Hamed Shamseldin looks to build off of his second-team all-conference selection last season, as he will become a key weapon for this Brockport offense.
Junior guards
Dwayne Daniel and
Josh Nelson, are another pair that will see their minutes increase from last year and are going to be asked to contribute meaningful play on both ends of the court. Junior transfer,
Tyler Collins, is another guard that head coach
Greg Dunne is excited to see in a Brockport jersey. He is a skilled, athletic guard that can help facilitate a potentially dangerous offense.
Justin Summers aims to grow and learn from a successful freshman year. Summers will be a big part of what the Golden Eagles do in the low post. Another sophomore,
Montgomery Stroman, hopes to recover from an early preseason injury in order to provide some depth for his team. Junior forwards
Michael O'Hara and
Ryan Ingarozza add needed depth to the forward spot.
The Green and Gold welcome a host of talented freshman to their ranks.
Connor McPartland,
Michael Pavinelli,
Davonte Jones and
Xavier Merriweather all hope to make a contribution at the guard position this year.
Brockport opens their season on the road against Western Connecticut State at the Manhattanville Tip-Off Tournament on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. and will host Hobart College for their home opener on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
