BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball team dropped to 2-2 on the season with a 57-33 loss against nationally ranked University of Rochester Monday evening. The Yellowjackets, who are defending UAA champions, improve to 4-0.

The first quarter of play was a back-and-forth affair, with Brockport matching U of R point-for-point throughout. Rochester opened up a four point lead with 3:21 left in the quarter, but a big three-pointer by freshman
Julianna Taylor put the Green and Gold right back in it. A pair of
Emily Nestler free throws late in the first had Brockport trailing by just three heading into the break.

Neither team scored much in the second quarter, as stingy defense held the two squads to a combined 16 points in the frame.
Lindsay Johnson hit a shot from beyond the arc, but the Yellowjackets were able to respond and extend their lead to nine going into the half.

They stretched that lead even further in the third quarter, despite some physical play from the Green and Gold. Brockport got to the line six times in the frame, sinking five of them, four of which came from Taylor who led the team in scoring with nine points on six-for-six from the line.

Brianna Neeley got on the board in the fourth quarter with a pair of layups, but it was not enough as the feisty Rochester team kept up the pressure, and held on for the win.

Emily Nestler contributed eight points to go with her six boards, while
Bailey Pratt and Johnson each scored five.
Megan Anagnostopulos was a factor on the glass, pulling down five rebounds to go with her one steal.

The Golden Eagles will begin conference play this weekend when they hit the road to square off with New Paltz at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Oneonta at 1 p.m. Saturday.
