GENESEO N.Y.- The College at Brockport women's basketball team saw its season come to an end, with a 64-48 loss to SUNY New Paltz in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) semifinals on Saturday night.

Brockport finishes the season with a record 10-17, while New Platz improves to 18-8 and advances to the SUNYAC Conference Championship.

Saturday's loss ended the careers of two Brockport seniors,
Hannah Rehbaum and
Faith Welch. Both played crucial roles in the Golden Eagles back-to-back SUNYAC Conference tournament appearances, including winning their first conference tournament contest since the 2008-09 season.Â
Brockport fell behind early, as New Paltz scored 14 of the first 16 points to open up play. The Green and Gold were able to answer, scoring the last five points of the quarter. First,
Olivia LeBaron connected on a triple, followed by a layup by
Lindsay Johnson, bringing the score to 14-7 as the first period came to a close. Â
The Hawks outscored Brockport 21-9 in the second period of play. The Golden Eagles were able to cut the deficit to nine points, when Welch drove to the lane finishing with her left hand, making the score 19-10. New Paltz answered by scoring the next seven points extending the lead to 26-11. Â
Johnson led the way for Brockport scoring four points, and pulling down four rebounds, while LeBaron and Pratt each chipped in with three points.Â
The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to 15 points early in the third quarter, when Johnson made back-to-back layup's, and
Schyler Laux knocked down a jumper just inside the three point arc.
Brianna Neeley completed a three-point play with under a minute left in the frame, making the score 51-32. Â
Welch opened up the final period connecting on a three-point basket, cutting the Golden Eagle deficit to 54-36. With just over two minutes left in the contest Rehbaum found Laux on a back door cut, who finished with her left hand cutting the lead to 61-45, in favor of New Paltz. However, Brockport couldn't overcome the deficit, falling 64-48.Â
Johnson narrowly missed a double-double, scoring a team-high 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting, while pulling down nine rebounds, and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Laux finished the night 4-for-5 from the floor, scoring eight points, and Welch chipped in with 11. Â
The Golden Eagles held a slight rebounding advantage pulling down 35 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards that were turned into eight second chance points. Â
