NAPLES, Fla.- The College at Brockport softball team improved to 2-2 on the season after sweeping day two of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Naples, Fla. The Golden Eagles downed Curry College 14-2 to start the day and then beat Wilmington College (OH) 5-1 to cap off a 2-0 day.

Game One

Brockport dominated Curry from start to finish behind a masterful pitching performance by
Becky Knorr. The junior pitched a complete game, giving up two earned runs, while striking out nine batters, picking up her first win of the season.

The Golden Eagles struck first in the top half of the second inning, when
Alexis Ross laced a three RBI double down the left field line.
Â
Brockport pushed across four more runs in the third, with
Jessica Koneski starting it off connecting on an RBI single, scoring
Alison Missavage.
Karleigh Eaton hit an infield single, which scored
Morgan Flamholtz and
Lindsay Wachna capped off the rally driving in two runs with an infield knock. Â

The Colonels were able to get one run in the third to cut the Golden Eagles lead to 7-1. The Green and Gold tacked on two more in the fifth inning, and three runs in the seventh, which was highlight by a three-run blast by Koneski capping off the 14-2 victory.

Brockport pounded out 16 hits, with Koneski leading the way going 3-for-5 and driving in four runs.
Casey Danko chipped in with four hits and two RBIs. Ross added two hits to go along with three RBIs and
Kathleen Laskey went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, scoring three runs for the Golden Eagles.

Game Two

Brockport quickly found itself in a 1-0 deficit as Wilmington scored one unearned run in the top of the first inning. The Golden Eagles answered back scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth. Koneski struck again crushing an RBI single to left field, scoring Missavage and later scored on a Flamholtz single up the middle, giving Brockport the 2-1 advantage.
The Green and Gold added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, highlighted by a 2-run blast by Koneski, which was hammered to left center field.

Amanda Colon picked up her first win of the season, pitching a complete game without surrendering an earned run. The junior scattered eight Quaker hits, while working out of two bases loaded jams in the fifth and sixth innings.

Brockport will face Centenary University at 9 a.m. then UMass Dartmouth at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13 at Collier Regional Park in Naples, Fla.
