NAPLES, Fla.- The College at Brockport softball team beat Centenary University (N.J.) 7-3 to start day three of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Naples, Fla. but fell to UMass Dartmouth 7-4. The Golden Eagles move to 3-3 on the season.

Game One

Brockport jumped all over Centenary to start the contest, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.
Casey Danko drove in the first run of the game, singling home
Meghan Cullen and
Jessica Koneski continued her terrificstart to the season by lacing a two RBI double up the middle and later scored on a triple by
Karleigh Eaton.

The Green and Gold tacked on three more runs in the top of the second inning, when Eaton drove in her third run of the game with an infield knock to the shortstop, extending the Golden Eagle lead to 7-0.

The Cyclones loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the fourth inning but
Michaela Contreras was able to get a double play to end the Centenary threat.

The Cyclones pushed across two runs in the fifth to cut the Brockport lead to 7-2. In the bottom of the seventh inning Centenary strung together a couple of two out hits which tacked on one run, but ultimately Contreras was able to get the final out to secure the victory.

Conteras picked up her first victory of the season, moving to 1-0 on the year. The freshman pitched a complete game, only allowing two runs and striking out four.
Brockport rattled off 13 hits, with Eaton going a perfect 2-for-2 from the plate.
Alexis Ross added two hits, while scoring two runs and Danko had two knocks and an RBI.

Game Two
Â
Brockport struck first in game two, pushing across one run in the first inning. Danko reached on an error, which scored Ross who singled to open up the game.

The Corsairs answered by scoring two runs in the first and tacking on four more in the third taking a 6-1 lead.

In the fourth inning Koneski poked an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Lindsay Wachna. The Golden Eagles struck again in the fifth, cutting the UMass Dartmouth lead to 6-3 following a sacrifice fly by Wachna.

UMass Dartmouth added another insurance run in the sixth inning, but Brockport worked to load the bases with one out in the top of the seventh inning.
Alison Missavage scored on an infield fly by Wachna, cutting the Corsairs lead to 7-4. UMass Dartmouth was able to get out of the jam leaving the bases loaded to improve to 6-0 on the season.

Brockport will face Edgewood College at 9 a.m. then Nichols College at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14 at Century Link Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
