NAPLES, Fla.- The College at Brockport softball team beat Edgewood College 6-2 to start the fourth day of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. but fell to Nichols College 5-2. The Golden Eagles move to 4-4 on the season.

Game One
Â
Brockport struck first in the top of the first inning when
Alexis Ross led off the contest singling through the right side and later scoring on a sacrifice fly by
Lindsay Wachna.

The Green and Gold tacked on one more run in the second inning off an RBI single by
Kathleen Laskey, brining homeÂ
Jessica Koneski. Edgewood College was able to get on the board in the bottom of the frame, cutting Brockport's lead to 2-1.

Ross singled homeÂ
Karleigh Eaton in the top of the fourth, and the Green and Gold added two more runs in the fifth inning, when Eaton singled to right field, brining around Koneski and Wachna.

Edgewood College cut Brockport's lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Eaton struck again in the top of the seventh, connecting on an RBI double, scoring
Alison Missavage from first base.

Edgewood College put two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but
Amanda Colon worked out of the jam to secure the 6-2 victory.

Colon picked up her second win of the season, improving to 2-1 on the year. The junior pitched a complete game allowing six hits, giving up two earned runs and striking out seven.

Eaton had a great game from the plate, going 3-for-3, with three RBIs and two extra base hits. Ross,
Casey Danko and Koneski added two hits apiece for the Golden Eagles.

Game Two

In Brockport's second outing of the day, Ross opened game two with a single through the left side, later scoring on an infield knock by
Meghan Cullen. Nichols answered back, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first taking a 2-1 lead. The Bison tacked on three more runs in the second inning, extending their advantage to 5-1.

In the fourth the Golden Eagles manufactured a run, when Wachna scored on a sacrifice fly by Missavge, cutting the Nichols lead to 5-2. Brockport was unable to score in the final three innings of play, scattering three hits and falling to the Bison 5-2.

Becky Knorr lost her first game of the year, moving to 1-1 on the season. Knorr pitched a complete game, giving up five runs on five hits and recorded three strikeouts.

Ross went 3-for-4 from the plate and scored one run for the Golden Eagles. Laskey recorded one extra base hit, while Missavage and Wachna each drove in a run.

Brockport will face UMass Dartmouth at 11 a.m. then Marian University at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at Collier Regional Park in Naples, Fla.
