NAPLES, Fla.- The College at Brockport softball team beat UMass Dartmouth 7-3 to start the fourth day of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Naples, Fla. but fell to Marion University 8-5. The Golden Eagles move to 5-5 on the season.

Game One
Â
UMass Dartmouth opened the game up scoring twice in the top of the first inning. The Green and Gold took the lead in the bottom of the frame, on a 2-RBI single through the left side by
Lindsay Wachna.
Â
The Corsairs tied the ball game up in the top half of the second inning. Brockport again answered, in the home half of the frame, when
Casey Danko laced a two run single, bringing home
Alexis Ross and
Taylor Parlet.
Â
The Golden Eagles added one run in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. Ross delivered the biggest blow connecting on a two-RBI triple to right field, putting Brockport up 7-3.

Michaela Contreras picked up her second win of the season, improving to 2-0 on the year. The freshman settled down after a tough start, holding UMass Dartmouth scoreless the last five innings. Contreras allowed three runs on eight hits, with two strikeouts.

Ross went a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate scoring two runs and driving in two more. Wachna added two hits, to go along with three RBIs and Danko registered three hits for Brockport.

Game Two
Â
In the Green and Gold's second matchup of the day, Marian pushed across two runs to open up the contest. In the bottom half of the first, Wachna connected on a double, bringing around Danko and cutting the Sabers lead to 2-1.

Marian tacked on one run in the second, one in the third and two more in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-1. Brockport cut the Saber lead in half in the fifth inning, scoring two runs.
Jessica Koneski singled up the middle to drive home Danko
Alison Missavage, and followed that up with a double to right center, scoring Wachna.

The Sabers added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 8-3. Brockport again responded, when
Meghan Cullen doubled home Ross and
Mikelle Deck, to move the Golden Eagles within three runs.

The Green and Gold were unable to get anything going in the last half of the seventh, going down in order.

Amanda Colon dropped her second decision of the season, falling to 2-2. The junior pitched 3.0 innings, while giving up three earned runs.
Becky Knorr pitched the remaining 4.0 inning allowing four runs on seven hits.

Cullen went 2-for-4 driving in two runs, while Danko chipped in scoring two runs for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport will face Centenary at 9 a.m. then North Central College at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Century Link Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
