The Golden Eagles Score 20 Runs In Sweep Of D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y.- The College at Brockport softball team picked up two wins on Tuesday in a non-conference double header against D'Youville College. The Golden Eagles won game one by a score of 11-1 in six innings and finished off the sweep with a 9-2 victory in the second contest.
 
With the wins, Brockport improves to 12-10 on the season, while D'Youville falls to 6-12 in 2017.
 
 
Game One:
 
The Brockport offense came alive in the first game, scoring 11 runs and pounding out 16 hits. Elizabeth Kline put the Golden Eagles on the board first in the top of the second, connecting on a two-RBI double to right centerfield. Casey Danko extended the Green and Gold's lead to 4-0, ripping an RBI double to right field to cap off a four-run second.
 
The runs kept coming for Brockport, and in the third, Alison Missavage laced an RBI double to left field, scoring Jessica Koneski who led off the frame with a two bagger. Kline hit an RBI double to score Morgan Flamholtz, extending the Golden Eagle lead to 7-0.
 
In the top of the fourth Missavage drove in her second run of the ball game, singling home Kyra Hunsinger who reached on an error earlier in the frame. The Golden Eagles tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning to push their lead to 11-1.
 
Lindsay Wachna pitched a tremendous game, picking up her third win of the season. The junior took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and finished the day surrendering only two hits, not allowing an earned run.
 
Kline went 3-for-4 from the plate and drove in four runs for the Golden Eagles. Missavage chipped in with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Flamholtz scored three runs. The Golden Eagles hit six doubles in the contest, including a combined four from Missavage and Kline.
 
Game 2:
 
D'Youville struck first in the second game, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. The Golden Eagles answered right back scoring three runs in the top of the second, taking a 3-2 lead. Flamholtz doubled to right center field, bringing home Missavage and Koneski. Flamholtz scored later in the frame on a Spartan error.
 
Brockport struck for three more runs in the third. Wachna started things, doubling home Danko, followed by an RBI single by Missavage. Flamholtz capped off the inning with her third RBI of the game, extending the Golden Eagle lead to 6-2.
 
Brockport pushed across another run in the fifth inning, when Lexi Abernathy drew a bases loaded walk that allowed Missavage to score. The Golden Eagles tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning, when Koneski singled up the middle, brining around Danko to score.
 
Amanda Colon picks up her third win of the season, pitching five complete innings, allowing just two runs on six hits. Becky Knorr pitched the remaining two frames, holding the Spartans to only one hit and not allowing any runs.
 
Brockport returns to action on Friday, April 14 traveling to SUNY Oneonta for a double-header. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
