BUFFALO, N.Y.- The College at Brockport softball team split a double header with State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foes Buffalo State on Sunday. The Golden Eagles won the opening game 7-4 and fell in game two by a score of 9-1 in five innings.

Brockport is now 15-15 on the year and 5-9 in SUNYAC play, while Buffalo State moves to 11-20 on the season and 8-6 in league action.

Game One
Â
The Golden Eagles were able to win the first game despite being outhit 13-6 in the contest by the Bengals. The Golden Eagles struck first when
Morgan Flamholtz hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring
Lindsay Wachna who had doubled earlier in the frame.

Buffalo State responded with two runs in the second and tacked on two more in the third to take a 4-1 lead. In the top of the fifth inning Brockport scored four times without a hit, taking advantage of four Bengals errors giving Brockport a 5-4 edge.

The Green and Gold tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh inning when
Meghan Cullen laced an RBI double to left center field and later scored on a Wachna single up the middle extending their lead to 7-4

Becky Knorr picked up the win for the Golden Eagles in relief, improving to 3-2 on the season. The junior pitched the last four innings not surrendering a run and recording one strikeout.
Amanda Colon started the contest, pitching three complete innings and recording one strikeout.

Wachna went 2-for-3 from the plate with one RBI and one run scored for the Golden Eagles, while Cullen chipped in, scoring two runs, adding one RBI and one hit.

Game Two:

Brockport was held to just six hits and only pushed across one run in the second game of the double header. Buff State got on the board first, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first inning.

In the top of the second inning Wachna connected on her third home run of the season, blasting a solo shot over the left field wall.

The Bengals tacked on a run in the third and exploded for six more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 9-1.

Wachna finished the contest with two hits, following up her home run with a double, while
Casey Danko and Falmholtz both registered extra base hits for the contest.

Knorr picked up her third loss of the season in the circle, not surrendering a run and recording four strikeouts.
Â
Brockport returns to action on Monday, April 24, as the Golden Eagles host a double header against Nazareth College, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
