BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport softball team split a non-conference double header with Nazareth College on Monday. The Golden Eagles lost 7-5 to start the day, but rebounded in the second game picking up a 4-2 win. With the split Brockport is now 16-16 on the season and the Golden Flyers are now 16-12 for the year.

Game One:
Â
Brockport struck first in the first inning, the first run was scored off a throwing error by the Nazareth shortstop allowing
Casey Danko to come home.
Morgan Flamholtz drove in the second run singling to left center field, scoring
Meghan Cullen from third.
Â
The Golden Flyers tied the game in the top of the second inning off a two RBI double. The Green and Gold regained the lead in the bottom half of the second inning, using a well-executed double steal that allowed Cullen to come home.

Nazareth took the lead in the top of the third inning scoring three runs in the frame. Brockport answered in bottom of the frame tying the game at 5-5, when
Shelby Perry connected on a bases loaded two RBI single.

The Golden Flyers took the lead in the fourth inning and tacked on another run in the top of the seventh inning, taking a 7-5 advantage into the bottom of the frame.

Brockport was able to put one runner on in the bottom of the seventh inning, but stranded her on first base, giving Nazareth their 16th win of the season.

Michaela Contreras picks up her second loss of the season, pinching the final 4.2 innings, while only allowing two earned runs and striking out two batters.

Karleigh Eaton was 2-for-4 from the plate and scored one run for the Golden Eagles. Perry registered one hit, while driving in two runs and
Casey Danko chipped scoring two runs for the game.

Game Two:

In the second game The Golden Flyers struck first on a home run to left center field in the top of the first. The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the bottom half of the frame, when
Lindsay Wachna crushed an RBI double to center. Wachna came across to score later in the frame on a Nazareth throwing error.
Â
The Golden Flyers tied the came up in the third inning pushing across one run. Brockport pitcher
Becky Knorr did a great job of working out a bases loaded jam in the frame only surrendering the one run and stranding three runners on base.

Jessica Koneski singled and later scored on a ground out by Wachna in the bottom of the third inning, putting the Golden Eagles up 3-2. The Golden Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Cullen laced an RBI single to left center field, giving Brockport a 4-2 advantage.

The two teams remained scoreless the rest of the game, Nazareth was able to put the first two runners on in the top of the seventh inning, but Knorr again was able to strand the runners to pick up the victory.

Knorr picks up her fourth win of the season, pitching a complete game scattering eight hits, only surrendering two hits and striking out three batters.

Cullen picked up two hits in three at bats, scored a run and drove in another for the Golden Eagles. Wachna chipped in going 1-for-2 and driving in two of Brockport's four runs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, April 26 hosting a double header with St. John Fisher. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
