BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport football team will have a new post-season game to play toward this year, as the Empire 8 and Liberty League conferences have partnered to create the New York State Bowl, which they'll kick off on November 18th of this year.
The bowl game will feature the top teams from each league that did not earn bids into the NCAA tournament, with the host site rotating year-by-year. The Liberty League will host the game in the inaugural season, meaning the E8 representative will host in 2018.
"This will be an exciting new opportunity for our football program to participate in meaningful post-season play," said Brockport Director of Athletics,
Erick Hart. "The ability to play a bowl game within the state will give our fans a chance to experience post-season football."
With the addition of the bowl, Brockport athletics will no longer be a member of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).
The Empire 8 includes Brockport, Alfred, Buffalo State, Cortland, Hartwick, Morrisville, St. John Fisher, and Utica. The Liberty League members are Hobart, St. Lawrence, Merchant Marine, Springfield, WPI, RPI, Union, and Rochester.
