BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport continued their winning ways against D'Youville College, pulling out a 3-1 victory on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles improved to 4-1 on the season as the Spartans fall to 1-3-1.
The Green and Gold started the scoring early with
Lindsey Lovett netting her second goal of the year and the team a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. The lead would be short-lived however, as the Spartans would even the game three minutes later. Offensively, the Golden Eagles fired 16 shots, 10 of which were on goal in the first half. The score would remain tied 1-1 going into the break
The Brockport offense continued a relentless attack in the second half, shooting 17 times.
Krista Statt netted her third goal of the season in the 70th minute after a cross by
Riley Foti allowed Statt to head the ball in and give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead.
Sarah Covell gave the team an insurance goal in the 78th minute thanks to an assist from
Lindsey Lovett. The Green and Gold played tight defense against the Spartans, only allowing five shots and providing little breathing room for the opposing offense to operate.
Goalkeeper
Kimberly Lubanski earned her third win of the season, playing in all 90 minutes and making two saves including an incredible move to jump on a loose ball in front of the net.
"Today was an important win for us because we really weren't are our best," commented head coach
Mike Idland. "But the players found a way to dig us out of trouble and that is something successful teams need to know how to do."
The Golden Eagles begin a four-game stretch of road games on Saturday Sept. 16 when they travel to Nazareth College for a 12 p.m. match time.
