ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team fell 6-0 at St. John Fisher Tuesday evening to even their record on the season to 1-1. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 1-1.
After winning State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) defensive player of the week earlier today,
Sarah Beam had another solid outing in net, saving eight Fisher shots. All eight of those saves came in the second period of play, as the junior stepped up, allowing just two goals in the second stanza.
Brockport did get four penalty corner opportunities in the contest, but were unable to get any shots on net, as the stingy Fisher defense shut down the few opportunities they had.
Christina Conkling,
Olivia Douglas, and
Meaghan Lurz all registered shots in the contest, but were unable to get them on cage. Lauren Fazio was the main threat for the Cardinals, scoring three of the teams six goals.
The field hockey team will have another non-conference matchup on Saturday morning when they host Vassar College for a game beginning at 10 a.m.
