BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport women's soccer team put together a great outing against St. John Fisher College on Thursday, taking home a 4-0 victory. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season as the Cardinals fall to 0-3 in 2017.
The Green and Gold started off hot on offense, scoring the first goal of the game just three minutes in.
Molly Zientek netted her first goal of the season, giving Brockport a 1-0 lead. The scoring would not stop there, as
Maddie Siclare scored her third goal of the season by sending a laser shot from outside of the box into the net in the 29th minute. The Golden Eagles third goal would come off of the foot of
Kallie Smith for her first of the year after a well-placed pass by
Fiona Stockdale just three minutes before the half, as Brockport took a 3-0 lead into the half.
In the second half,
Myriah Saar netted her first goal of the year in the 53rd minute after shooting a deflected ball into the back of the net, giving The Golden Eagles a 4-0 advantage. Defense played solid as well, only allowing five shots the entire game while goalkeeper
Kimberly Lubanski made three saves to keep the Cardinals scoreless in 90 minutes of play.
"I think we can all be proud of that performance today," noted
Mike Idland. "The players did really well to carry out our plan throughout the game and played hard for each other. There were bright spots for us from our goalkeeping to our goal scoring."
Brockport will be back in action Saturday Sept. 9 as they host Houghton College at 12 p.m. on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
