BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team went out in style Saturday afternoon as they celebrated the careers of their three seniors. The team fought a hard battle against Ithaca College however came up just short 2-0, finishing their season 4-14 overall.
The conditions were far from ideal, as both teams battled the cold and the rain in addition to each other. The first half was an offensive stalemate, neither teams able to create effective opportunities to put themselves on the board. The score remained zero for most of the first half until the Bombers offense managed to sneak one by off the rebound with two minutes remaining. Goalie Adriana Dedie led the defensive effort, collecting seven saves while only allowing one through 35 minutes.
Despite finding themselves at a deficit coming back from the half, the Golden Eagles didn't let that stop them from kicking it into gear. The team added four more shots and two more penalty corners in the second, with strong performances from
Katelynn Mello,
Meaghan Lurz, and
Kelsey Devine. The Golden Eagles battled to create opportunities but fell at the hands of the Bomber offense as they solidified the win with their second goal of the day.
The team thanks their three seniors for their unwavering dedication and leadership throughout this season and are excited to take what they've learned this year and come back stronger than ever in the 2019 season.
