OSWEGO, NY – The College at Brockport ice hockey team fell to No.6/8 Oswego State Friday night, by a score of 5-2. With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to (7-2-1) overall and (2-2-1) in conference, while the Lakers improve to (5-1-0) and (3-1-0) in the SUNYAC.
The Lakers wasted little time in the first period, scoring their first goal of the game four minutes in. The Golden Eagles found themselves man down five minutes later after a two-minute tripping call was made on
Doc Gentzler. The Lakers took advantage of the man-up opportunity, scoring their second of the night on the PP. Following the goal, Brockport fell into penalty trouble once more, giving Oswego another PP chance late in the period. The Lakers scored their third goal on the PP opportunity with 8:48 remaining in the period.
The Golden Eagles started the period with a PP opportunity after an Oswego player was sent to the box for tripping. The Green and Gold created a few chances on offense but the Lakers penalty killers stayed strong. The Golden Eagles brought the score within two, a minute after the power play expired when
Jeremy Solat found
Danny Rock for his third of the season. The Lakers extended their lead once more with two minutes remaining in the second, sending the Golden Eagles into the locker room down, 4-1.
Brockport narrowed the score two minutes into the third period when
Hunter Laslo beat the Oswego netminder with assists from
Doc Gentzler and
Jake Colosanti. As the period winded down the game grew chippy, Brockport fell into penalty trouble and the Lakers took advantage, scoring their fifth and final goal with 4:22 remaining in the third.
The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday, Dec. 1 when they host SUNY Cortland for Tribute to Local Law Enforcement night at Tuttle North Ice Arena, puck drop is set for 4 p.m.
